this is part outline, part the beginnings of a longish paper about the role of "values" in the work of design. It is an attempt to make explicit something that has been part of the conversation about design for a very long time. Initially presented as a graduate seminar at North Carolina State University in October, 2008. I'll get some of the illustration/diagrams in.
hugh dubberly above all. he's the person who has always pushed me when i skim anything. John Cain for taking it seriously. Anthony Pannozzo, Anna Muoio, and Jon Campbell for discussing this as it developed for NC State. Meredith Davis for the prompting to think about it at this level. And Sarah Ingrahm for the visuals.
